Who Exactly Is On The Science and Technology Committee For The House Of Representatives?

Why do I ask this? Well three words: Representative Todd Akin. Remember him? Luckily for our country and the good people of Missouri, he was not elected to the Senate. But he was a member of the 112th Science and Technology Committee. Now I hear of another Representative who is on the S&T committee and is denouncing Evolution: that being Rep. Paul Broun of Georgia.

The one representative from Arizona is Rep. David Schweikert. This Representative has been kicked “down” to the S&T Committee from the Financial Services Committee. It is sad that S&T seems to be a lesser committee. Does he have a degree in science? Nope – he got a B.A. in business and then an M.B.A, both from Arizona State University. I think he would have preferred to stay in the financial services committee. He succeeded Rep. Benjamin Quayle from Arizona. Yep, of that family. His daddy famously misspelled potato and he was on the S&T committee.

But neither of them are one of the committee members considered “anti-science.” Those members (for 112th Congress that are now in the 113th Congress) according to the Institute for Southern Studies are: Rep. Paul Broun (R) of Georgia (even though he has a degree in Chemistry and is a medical doctor, he said Evolution, Embroyology and The Big Bang Theory were all lies straight from HELL!), Former Chairman (!) Ralph Hall (R) of Texas, Jim Sensenbrenner (R) of Wisconsin, and lastly, Vice-Chairman (!) Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R) of California.

The exclamation points are due to the fact that the Former Chairman, New Vice-Chairman and other representatives are CLIMATE CHANGE DENIERS and they RUN THE COMMITTEE ON SCIENCE!

Lastly, Rep. Lamar Smith (R) of Texas will replace Rep. Hall as Chairman. Rep. Smith is already on the committee and did not make the Southern Studies list of anti-science members on the S&T committee. Alas, he is a climate change skeptic. He has acknowledged that the climate is changing but does not think humans have anything to do with it. SIGH...

I guess I should be amazed that science gets any funding in our country. If they can deny something that the majority of scientists agree on, all for political gain, it is our country and our future that loses.
